Thanks for the >help every one. Maybe it is already said but ping does NOT garantee that a system is up and running ! I have written a tool which reads/writes messages through sockets, so that one knows that processes are running on a system, while ping only gets replys from the controller. (A system can still be pinged and hang at the same time, that's why I wrote my stuff with help of others as well !)
