Both the DOS partition and the FreeBSD partitions are on the same disk. Everything was going as expected until the root dist was being copied from the DOS \FreeBSD\Floppies directory to the root BSD partition. The error I got was: "Failed to load ROOT dist" The Debug output displayed the error: "gunzip: stdin: invalid compressed data -- format violated /stand/cpio: premature end of file DEBUG: Dummy [default] close called for wd0s1 with fd of 6" I've compared the root.flp file in the DOS partition with the one on the 2.1 CD, and all seems okay. (I can't install from the CD directly because the IDE CD isn't one of the supported ones). Has anyone else seen this problem, and is there a solution? -- Peter Hunt (hunt@ozy.dec.com) | I see no sign of free will, Networks Engineering (Aust) | so I guess I have to pay ...
