I have already got it! All you need is an Appletalk-Router in 
your network to define at least one zone!!

I had exactly the same problems with netatalk. The trouble is 
that the routing code in the FreeBSD-port of netatalk is not 
ok.

To solve this you DO need an Apple-talk-Router in your 
network.

I am using UAR from the CAP package on the same machine as 
netatalk. But you need a second interface for UAR. :-(

People in greater networks where routers and zones have been 
before the installation of netatalk do not experience these 
problems.
