After ~6 or so kernel rebuilds today, I have still been unable to find the magic combination of settings to get my IDE CD-ROM drive to work. I know that IDE CD support is still a long way from flawless and robust, but I believe that I've heard of people using them. Here are the particulars on the drive: it's a Mitsumi quad-speed, IDE, internally- mounted device which is probably 1.5 to 2 years old. The following is a snippet of my kernel source file containing what I believe to be the CD-relevant stuff. I have done several iterations w/ the mcd0 line changing it around between 1f0, 170, 1e8 and 168 while varying the IRQ between 9,10,11,12,14, and 15. options MSDOSFS #MSDOS Filesystem options "CD9660" #ISO 9660 Filesystem controller isa0 controller pci0 controller wdc0 at isa? port "IO_WD1" bio irq 14 vector wdintr disk wd0 at wdc0 drive 0 options ATAPI #Enable ATAPI support for IDE bus #device wcd0 #IDE CD-ROM #device mcd0 at isa? port 0x300 bio irq 10 vector mcdintr device mcd0 at isa? port 0x170 bio irq 15 vector mcdintr #device mcd1 at isa? port 0x340 bio irq 11 vector mcdintr So, have I done anything completely stupid with this thing? If anyone has been able to make a similar device work, I'd certainly be interested in hearing the story. Thanks a lot best regards, --Scott Northcutt -- J.
