I've been running Linux on an ancient Deskpro 386/25 and a Miniscribe
for a few weeks now. The 386 is old and has a bug in the MMU and will
occasionally generate unnecessary page faults. It's harmless, but you
would want to comment out the warning that's printed.

I also get a warning about a conflict between the processor and the 387
that I haven't been able to solve yet. If anyone knows anything about
servicing Compaqs, please drop me a line. :-)

The only real problem I had, though, was getting my hands on the original
setup disks so I could add more memory or drives. Once I got ahold of
them, everything's been going pretty smoothly.

If it can't be done with Emacs, you're being too ambitious.
