I had the same problem on a machine. It was the I/O card after all. It was some cheap brand, and although it said it was 16650A etc, it still couldn't do ppp. I replaced the card with a proper, designed communications card, and all worked well. Especiall cards with Winbond chips on them are no good.! bc : we use dialin via modem using ppp with a transferspeed of 57600 bps. my : ftp-client contacts the server and display "socket connected" and : "waitung for wellcome message". the server needs about three minutes to : answer. we get the same result using netscape 3.0 to display the : home-page. from contacting til receiving takes minutes. : if we try to uplaod a file the throughput starts at 4.0KB and goes down : in a few seconds to 0.01 KB.this makes a datatransfer allmost : impossible. : if anybody knows how to adjust bsdi please send an e-mail. : P.S.
