My kernel config is : config bsd root on wd0a swap on wd0b and sd0b and sd1b Which puts my root partition on wd0a and gives me three swap partitions on wd0b, sd0b and sd1b. My /etc/fstab file contains these lines (and others!) : /dev/sd0b swap swap sw 0 0 /dev/sd1b swap swap sw 0 0 which are added by swapon when the machine boots.
