Ever if i > 'boot: -c' - there are NO ahc device in kernel configuration. ahc drivers are PCI or EISA only. boot -c lists ISA drivers only, so you won't seen it there. However, there _is_ an ahc driver in the kernel. The aic7770 is supposed to be scanned on the EISA bus. I think you need to turn off any ISA emulation in the EISA setup, but i'm not entirely sure.
