Summary: At present, the extensively used keyboards are standard PC ones.
In order to type blindly and get high typing speed, one has to
spend a lot of time on training to grasp the fingering of keyboard
inputting. In order to overcome this shortage,a new type keyboard
was invented. It takes a beginner only about 10 hours to type
blindly and skillfully. In the whole process of inputting and
editing, one has not to move his hands about. The typing speed
will increase about 67%.Especially,a SINGLE-HAND function key is
set on the keyboard, one can type blindly and skillfully with one
hand(without moving this hand about) while grasping scripts on
another hand.

1. ANALYSIS ON THE SHORTAGES OF STANDARD PC
KEYBOARDS
At present, keyboards used on computers are
generally the standard ones of PC series. While
inputting with the keyboard of PC series, in order
to get a high input speed, the operator should
grasp the fingering of keyboard inputting and be
able to type without keeping his eyes on keyboard.
In order to do this, the operator will have to
spend a lot of time on training. But even the most
adept operator, while typing quickly, will
sometimes press a wrong key in the process of
finger moving. In addition, even operator types
observing keyboard fingering,his wrists unavoidably
move from time to time, so the operator will easily
be tired after a long time of typing. Further more,
it will cost some time when a finger moves from a
key to another. This prevents the operator from
improving typing speed. The reason resulting in this
shortage is that there are too many keys on
keyboard and, while two hands lay at ease on
keyboard and the wrists keep unmoved, a part of
them are not in the reach of fingers (or even in
the reach of fingers, the relationship between the
location of keys and that of fingers is not
reasonable). For example,according to fingering,
the middle finger of left hand is responsible for
pressing keys of "E","D","C" and "3", etc. the
moving direction of middle finger of left hand is
north deflecting to west. But when operator lays
his hands at ease on keyboard, the optional
movement of middle finger of left hand is bending
to or stretching from the direction of the center
of palm without causing the movement of wrists.
2. IMPROVEMENTS ON THE NEW TYPE KEYBOARD
In order to overcome above shortages, this
keyboard of practice new type fixes the
relationship between frequently used keys and ten
fingers. Thus operator can type blindly without
having a long time of training, decrease typing
mistakes, shorten moving distance and improve
typing speed.
To realize the above aims, see Figure 1, the
inventor cuts down the necessary number of keys and
lays out 10 rows of keys on the center of keyboard.
Every row including 3 keys which are controlled by
one of the ten fingers is arranged in the
stretching direction of corresponding finger. The
ten rows of keys are arranged in the form of right-
left hand symmetry. The location of the inner keys
(11,12,13,14,15,26,27,28,29,30) and outer keys
(1,2,3,4,5,16,17,18,19,20) are higher than that of
the central ones(6,7,8,9,10,21,22,23,24,25). The
putting through direction of the inner keys is the
center of the palm oriented and that of the outer
keys is the reverse. There are two shifting
keys(31,32) in the corresponding locations of the
root of the right and left palms.

3. ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW TYPE KEYBOARD
The finger-type quickly input keyboard has the
following advantages compared with the existing
technology:
3.1. At present, among the people using
computers(except for professional typists), there
are a considerable part of people who cannot type
blindly. The main reason of this is that one has to
have fingering training in order to type blindly.
It generally lasts for a month or even longer. The
finger-type quickly input keyboard can take
perfectly the place of existing PC ones. Because
the relationship between the keys on the new type
keyboard and one's fingers is fixed, one can type
blindly just after he or she keeps the
corresponding characters on each key in mind. So,
in general, a beginner can type blindly in five or
six days without having fingering training. This
shortens greatly the period from learning to
operating skillfully. As to operators being
familiar with existing PC keyboard, they can get
used to it in very short time(usually 5 to 6 hours)
and type blindly and the input speed will be
enhanced much more greatly than before.
3.2. It is very inconvenient for many people to
type with two hands on existing PC keyboards while
their eyes looking at scripts. Yet handing scripts
in one hand and typing with another hand, the
operator will achieve a slow speed because his hand
has to move extensively on keyboard. Moreover, the
operator cannot type blindly with one hand on such
standard PC keyboard. In order to overcome this
shortage, a 'single-hand' functional key is set on
the new type keyboard. In the state of 'single-
hand', one can hand scripts in one hand while
typing blindly and quickly with another hand
without moving back and pro on keyboard.
3.3. Due to the fixed relationship between the
location of keys from
No. 1 to No. 30 and that of fingers, the operator
will not type wrong keys for his fingers not moving
precisely while typing blindly. This will enhance
the correct input percentage.
3.4. The time consumed exchanging from inputting
a certain character to another decreases. For
example, while transferring from inputting "d" to
inputting "e", according to fingering, the middle
finger of left hand will move about 2 cm from key
"D" to key "E" on existing PC keyboard and then
press key "E". Yet on finger-type quickly input
keyboard, one's middle finger of left hand just
hits outward, or to say, input is accomplished in
the process of finger's moving. This will save
about half time than inputting using existing PC
keyboard and thus enhance inputting speed greatly.
3.5. In the whole process of inputting and
editing, there is no need to move about any of
one's two hands.

* Some Comments *
* on the trying use of "Finger-type *
* Quickly Input Keyboard" *

Xiangping Xiao: THE INVENTOR
I have been using standard PC keyboard for about
more than 5 years and haven't practiced fingering
on purpose. I cannot type blindly on such a
keyboard until now and the input speed is about 160
characters per minute. After the hand-made model
was manufactured, I used it for inputting. At first
I was not used to it because the habit of using
standard PC keyboard prevented my fingers from
moving correctly. But I gradually got used to it
after about 3 hours' practicing. Further more, due
to the consistence of the sequence of 26 English
characters on this keyboard with that on standard
PC keyboard and my familiar with such sequence, I
can type blindly at the same time. After practicing
4 days(about 5 hours per day),I could type about
270 characters per minute. The speed increases
about 67%. There are others except myself who have
used this new keyboard, they felt that it is
really quicker and more convenient than standard PC
keyboard.
Hongjie Xie: HAVING USED STANDARD PC KEYBOARD
FOR ABOUT HALF A YEAR.
It was just about half a year ago that I
began to use computer more often. I feel it is very
inconvenient to use standard PC keyboard to input.
For example, when I want to input a character, I
have to find it out on keyboard before inputting.
I admire professional typists very much, for they
can type blindly and quickly. But I am too lazy to
have fingering training, maybe one of the reasons
is that it will take a long time to do that. After
the sample of the Finger-type Quickly input
keyboard was produced, I tried to use it for 3 day,
amounted to 12 hours, and then I could type blindly
and the typing speed was about 170 characters per
minute. I feel that this new type keyboard is
really more convenient to use than standard PC
keyboard, for the relationship of the location
between each key and each finger is fixed and
there is no need to find out the location of the
key you want to press.
Ye Cheng: BEGINNER.
I hardly used keyboard before. When the sample
of the new type keyboard was produced, I tried to
learn to input articles with it under Mr. Xiao's
guidance. It is very easy to learn. When I laid my
hands on the keyboard, each finger controlled three
keys and I did not have to think over how to move
my finger to the key that I wanted to press. The
movement of the fingers suited man's physiological
characteristics. Four days later(having typed about
24 hours),I had kept the keys on which there are
corresponding characters in mind and then I could
type blindly. The typing speed was about 90
characters per minute.
Lu Liu: PROFESSIONAL TYPIST
I can type about 320 characters per minute
on standard PC keyboard, but on this new type
keyboard I can type about 500 characters
per minute. It took me about several hours to get
used to it, but the speed increased was very
encouraging. In addition, I felt less tired after
a long typing.
