I think init kicks of something like "sh -c program port" where "program is the second column in /etc/ttys. : 2. I know it can be done with mgetty but I hate mgetty. It's a pain in the ass : to set up and the documentation is barely readable. I get as far as a : CONNECT 19200 but no prompt.
