Most modems have a "how long to lose CD before dropping the line" S register (around S7-S11 somewhere on a USR-Sportster). Try tweaking this up to a second or there abouts. Some modems default this to about .07 of a second: used to always kill my link after no more than an hour or two. I can now stay linked for days at a time (downloading 2.1.0 including xperiment, X & commerce took 28 hours).... But that may also be because I'm not using BT and I am using Videotron as a tele-provider - far less noise on the line. -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humor....
