I'm trying to install freebsd 2.0 on a p5 133, 32 mb edo, 512 k pipe, 1.2 gig seagate, toshiba XM-5302ta atapi 4x cd-rom, sb16, ati mach 64. First problem is when I boot I have to disable sio0, sio1, sio2, sio3 (/kernel -c) because of a conflict with the video card. After this I can continue booting, the boot sequences seems to find all the hardware in my machine except for the cd-rom, I get a "request timed out" message at a certain hex address. I tried to manually change the cd-rom config before the boot (/kernel -c) no dice?? My cd-rom is set up as a master on the second IDE controller. What bugs me is that I can boot from the cd-rom (my bios supports it), as long as I have the proper system files on the cd.(I tried it and it works) Question? Do I need a driver for BSD. If so where do I get it?? Is there something I can modify on the kernel?? I'm confused, I've set up my system up with several different types of operating systems in the past and I was always successful: ie: - Novell 4.10 server - Nt Server 3.51 - Nt Workstation 3.51 & 4.0 - Os 2 Warp and Warp connect (this one was a bitch!) - Windows 95 (lobotomy-ware) (Sorry I'm sort of an OS freak) I enjoy the challenge FreeBSD offers, but I'm a little wet behind the ears when it comes to UNIX. Any help is greatly appreciated Please email me at the following davehi@total.net
