Check you have rpc.bootparamd running on the server, with the correct
entry in the /etc/bootparams file. For example, a line from mine is:

    jings.local root=mctavish:/export/root/jings \
                swap=192.168.1.1:/export/swap/jings

This allows nfs host 'jings.local' to get info. about its root fs and
swap area.
