I am leaning toward a non : unix solution, but thought I would at least ask here before deciding. Not that I know of, but depending on your needs, FreeBSD may be able to do it. I have a small network (3 machines) with a modem on the FreeBSD box. Rather than getting the other machines to use a modem, they "ask" the FreeBSD box to do it. On Win95, I can click on "connect" to connect to my ISP and "disconnect" to hang up. Then things like netscape and Z-Mud proxy through the FreeBSD box. I use socks5 for proxying and sockscap to get win32s to proxy. I wrote a program called "tcpchat" that does a chat to a socket - this is used to set the iijppp (in -auto mode) timeout before pinging my ISP in the connect script, and is used by disconnect to tell iijppp to "close". This is necessary because timeout requirements vary (I automatically exchange news & mail w/ a 30 second timeout at night). Works for me ! But it's not exactly a modem pool ! -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour....
