I've never been able to verify this assertion personally, and I just did some
research. The pricing on the Internet Shopping Network (www.internet.net) for
the same drive in SCSI and IDE version (same model numbers except for the
final letter) ranges from $65 higher (1.0GB) to $150 higher (3.2GB).

Specific units that I found both versions to compare:

Medalist 1.08GB/3.5Lp St51080N 5400Rpm Scsi2 F............$259.99Medalist 1080GB/3.5Lp St51080A 5400Rpm Fast-Ata2...................$194.99

Fireballtm 3200 3.2Gb Ultra Scsi 3 3.5Lp 10.5Ms..........................$519.99
Fireballtm 3200 3.2Gb Fast-Ata2 3.5Lp 10.5Ms.............................$369.99

If you've got other sources that sell SCSI and IDE drives for the same price,
may I suggest that they are overpricing the IDE drives? Also, perhaps you
could cite a source for comparison.

Lastly, I'd like to point out that for folks who live or work in the Silicon
Valley, these prices are hardly the last word; I chose ISN because their
listing is so comprehensive that it was possible to perform this sort of
head-to-head comparison. Truth is, the infamous Fry's Electronics beats these
prices (for IDE) virtually every day, whereas their SCSI prices are roughly
comparable to ISNs.
