This means you've got some sort of problems with your interrupt system.
Do you get the "interrupts not working" when the SMC card isn't installed?
You didn't say what BusLogic card it was, but given that this appears to
be a PCI system I'd say 946/948/956/958 family. You need to go into both
the motherboard and BusLogic setup and fiddle with the interrupt settings
until you get interrupts working. I can't be more specific as this varies
greatly based on the motherboard you're using.
