I may be out in left field here, if so then let the experts be merciful<g>, but perhaps since it appears you do not have anything at sio0 maybe you could configure your sio2 (the card right?)to sio0: at 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa? I have never seen a system setup with no com1, but com2 and com3 work right, might be worth a shot? > Poor little clover is a humble 486-DX2/66 with an Adaptec 2842 VLB SCSI > controller. The overflows are triggered by disk access, but not by poking Poor little cyberwind is a 386DX 33 with 8 megs RAM running an Adaptec 1542 controller. I can even play with the tape drive while my modem does routing for two Win95 systems from the local Ethernet to the net at 115600 and 33.6 and not have this problem. I have plain 2.1.5-RELEASE, complied with excess drivers removed but no code changes. That would indicate to me that the OS is capable in at least some cases without all these code changes. -- | Jeffery T.
