My laptop goes from Ethernet to serial ppp (with a Ricochet) and back with no intervention except for inserting/removing the Ethernet or bringing up and down the ppp connection. Trying this with routed will give messages about packets from unknown routers. gated understands what's going on. The only problem is that gated doesn't handle interfaces that appear from out of nowhere (as happens when the system boots without the Ethernet card, and then it is inserted sometime later). I have been meaning to hack some sort of command into the config file to declare an interface and treat it as being down if it doesn't exist, but life has been a bit short of late. :-) P.s. Congrats to the PAO folks (especially Hosokawa). The latest combination of 2.2-960801 and PAO-960911 is most triumphant. -- Nick Sayer <nsayer@quack.kfu.com> | N6QQQ @ N0ARY.#NORCAL.CA.USA.NOAM | When is "I'll fly away" going to? +1 408 249 9630, log in as 'guest' | URL: http://www.kfu.com/~nsayer/ |
