Pretty neat. What I'm : puzzled by is the fact that I can mount the disk, but not play audio from it. : Below is a LOOONG hardware list for this machine. ;-)) You're NOT supposed to mount an audio CD. You just pop it into your CD drive, and click on PLAY from Workman, or press the PLAY button on your CD drive. This is the way I got it to work on my Linux system. I didn't try it with FreeBSD yet. If you try to mount an audio CD, you'll likely get a bad fs type error. If you're using data CD in cd9660 format, but contains sound files stored in some format, then it may make sense to mount the CD. : Pentium 133 32 meg EDO RAM : NCR PCI 53c810 SCSI controller : 2 SCSI 2 harddisks : 1 SCSI 2 dat tape drive : Standard floppies : Either on motherboard IDE controller or proprietary(included with cdrom) : Panasonic(matsushita) ATAPI cdrom 5 disk changer. I'm not doing some bonehead maneuver : of trying to play a mounted CD or something. I have successfully used ALL : of the above players with my old SCSI 2 Toshiba 4x. I'm stumped. Has anyone : been able to play audio CD's off of an IDE CDROM? Email or post here are : both fine. : James Yes, I was able to play audio CDs on my Linux system. I haven't tried it with FreeBSD though. Hmm.... perhaps all your CDs are bad? just kidding... ;-)) When you put in your CD, make sure your CD is flat. Sometimes if you're a little bit off, your CD player will not play. Another thing worth noting is that I have one audio CD which refuses to play on my Hi Fi. However, it plays beautifully on my 8x CD drive mounted on my computer. Why? I can't explain. Patrick P.S. btw, you did remember to connect a cable from your CD drive to your sound card. Right?
