The 8800 only supports a single 128k bank to the SVGA frame buffer. This is counter to the design of the frame-buffer code. The only Trident chipset supported by the color XFree86 server is the tvga8900C. The 8900B is NOT supported, nor is the 9000. Anyone who wants to is free to get the tech reference manuals and try to make it work. Good luck; it's not likely. The Trident chips are incredibly slow. A TVGA8900C runs barely half as fast as my ET4000 board, in the same machine. Get an ET4000-based board, or use the monochrome server. -- David Wexelblat <dwex@mtgzfs3.att.com> (908) 957-5871 AT&T Bell Laboratories, 200 Laurel Ave - 4B-421, Middletown, NJ 07748 "The meaning of life?
