Trying this with routed will : give messages about packets from unknown routers. gated understands : what's going on. I'll second this - from the routed side anyway. I've got 'routed -q' running on my laptop.... I plug into the network at work and see the RIP broadcasts.... fine. I then dial the 'net while connected, and suddenly lose use of the work router..... (I lose a bunch of my RIP-advertised routes - including all the "I'm allowed on this one" subnets). All I've done is added a static default route (via ppp). Even when I "route flush" or "route delete default", routed ignores the RIPs that advertise the other LAN networks.... :( Oh well, some day I'll look into gated. -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour....
