BEST is using a challenge L for serving it's user pages, and it appears to max out at around 70 hits/sec. There are just too many bottlenecks in the kernel. IRIX becomes very unhappy when you try to scale it up. We are actually migrating *back* to FreeBSD using Pentium Pro 200's now. IF you are really in love with SGI, I would suggest you get a couple of Indy's or S's and avoid the overpriced L's. -Matt -- Matthew Dillon Engineering, BEST Internet Communications, Inc. <dillon@best.net> [always include a portion of the original email in any response!]
