: The problem with this is that this still won't prove anything to anybody.

ZD is a media company more interested in saying politicall correct things
and selling rags to suits and other lusers than dispensing information that
could actually be considered accurate.

: I feel compelled to point out here that Microsoft is not making a dime from
: Internet server, since a peer-to-peer version is included with NT workstation, and
: a so-called full version is included with NT server.

If you want to run any form of proper WWW server on NT (i.e. > 10 TCP
connections), you have to buy NT server which costs 3 times as much. When
you buy NTS, you get IIS and no longer need to buy another WWW server from
Netscape or another 3rd party. This reduces their sales and makes them less
of a potential threat in other areas.

Microsoft aren't interested in a situation where everybody makes lots of
money. Their interests are in getting all money for themselves. Have you
ever heard Bill Gates referring to CEOs of other companies as people of
"finite greed"?

But enough Microsoft bashing. The origial article wasn't worth the web
space it used.

: The Apache group is also not making a dime off of Apache since it's free.

Agreed. But they get lots of kudos - perhaps that's what they want?
