(I seem to have turned into the family genealogist, and rather than take a chance on something happening to some of my irreplaceable documents, I want to put them on CD-Rom). I have looked at running a MAC emulator on my Amiga, however, the cost outlays for System 7.5, a MAC rom, and other supporting software are fairly high, compared to the cost of NETBSD (FREE). Here is what I know so far. 1. NETBSD is available for the Amiga series of computers, and is pretty stable. 2. I have the hardware resources to handle NETBSD (almost 50M of RAM, Motorola 68060-50MHZ, and 2.1G harddrive). 3. I know where I can get the CD-Rom version of NETBSD so installation should not be too difficult. 4. Hardware-wise, I know what I need. A scanner, probably an HP4P or MUSTEK 12000P. Also a CDR drive. Both should be some variety of SCSI. 5. I will probably be running XWindows of some sort, as I am both a GUI person and a 'command line' person, depending on what I have to do. So, assuming I have NETBSD installed: How/where can I get drivers for my various standard hardware? Such as my HP682C, Motorola 28.8 modem, Zipdrive, proposed scanner and CD-R? Do the manufacturers generally have drivers acceptable for NETBSD/UNIX usage? Are there shareware drivers available? If it sounds like I am lost, that's because I probably am. It looks like this could be a good solution for my needs, but I just don't know where to find anything. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.
