Message-ID: <1992Nov14.001637.17187@pool.info.sunyit.edu> Organization: State University of New York -- Institute of Technology Date: Sat, 14 Nov 1992 00:16:37 GMT Lines: 32 A week ago, I ran into problems installing 386BSD on an EISA machine with an Ultrastor Ultra 24F SCSI host adaptor. I gave it another try today, and here's what I've got: I set up the host adaptor so that the wd driver likes it. I can mount the 386BSD partition, write to it, and read from it. But I can't boot from the hard drive. I have tried the standard dist.fs and the cgd (?) one, and neither seem to do the trick. I suspect it is the boot block, because the machine gets stuck in an infinite reboot loop without displaying anything on the screen. I've looked in several places, but I haven't seen any other boot blocks. Booting from floppy works fine and I will even settle for that if there is a way to mount the hard drive as the root file system. (I used to do that with Linux, so there must be a way.) Any help would be appreciated. I also have a general 386BSD question. Could someone post a list of every "option" that we can use with our config files? I believe I have most of them, but I would like all. I received mail from several people trying to get 386BSD running on this same type of system. To them: I haven't forgotten about you. I have your addresses and will let you know when I get it running. -- Jim H. * * James L. Henrickson | "I don't need a signature, I need a job!" * ujlh@sunyit.edu | BSCS, December 1992
