I was able to install the "compat1x" libs on 2.1.5R, compile Samba binaries on a v1.1.5.1 host, and run them on 2.1.5R (!!) So, to summarize, with v2.1.5R I have: Samba version Operational? Notes 1.9.15p8 (2.1.5R bin) yes 1.9.16p2 (2.1.5R bin) no 1.9.16p2 (2.1.0R bin) no (works fine on 2.1.0R) 1.9.16p2 (1.1.5.1 bin) yes (with compat1.x libs) Could there be some library incompatibility between FreeBSD 2.1.5R and Samba 1.9.16p2? In the comp.protocols.smb newsgroup, someone running NetBSD has the same problem as myself, while correspondance with someone else reports no problem with FreeBSD v2.2-?? > -- > | John Lucas jlucas@jnet.vi | > | Information Technology NIC Handle: JL423 | > | University of the Virgin Islands (809) 693-1216 | > | St. Thomas, VI 00802 http://www.jnet.vi/jlucas.html | -- | John Lucas jlucas@jnet.vi | | Information Technology NIC Handle: JL423 | | University of the Virgin Islands (809) 693-1216 | | St. Thomas, VI 00802 http://www.jnet.vi/jlucas.html |
