The idea was to install a minimum system, and a then copy over the /etc, /usr, and other relevant file systems. To this end, I started with scsiformat, then proceeded to /stand/sysinstall to do partitioning and disklabeling. (I can't use disklabel and newfs, since I don't have an entry for the JAZ in disktab yet. Anybody have a JAZ disktab entry available that I can slap in?) I was EXCEEDINGLY careful to specify sd1 (the JAZ) as the device on which operations were to be carried out, and sysinstall displayed sd1 as the target at every step of the way. Everything seemed to be kosher, until the actual Commit. To my horror, I noted that there was no activity light on the JAZ, but the hard drive--sd0--was whirling away like crazy. I thought to myself, "There's no way that sysinstall could be installing files on sd0--it couldn't be THAT brain-dead." But, sure enough, that was exactly the case. In disbelief, just to reassure myself that I had not muffed the installation target specification somehow, I redid the whole thing, with the same result. I was left quivering, in a state of speechless stupification. Still wiping foam off my chin... \\ichelle
