Now that I have 386bsd up and running, I'd like to put SCSI devices on
it. My problem is about the controller: the Adaptec 1542 is hard to find
here in Italy (at least from my usual dealers), and is priced around
$400, which might be a bit high. I can find very cheap no-name SCSI
adapters for $70 or so, but they lack any technical documentation, so
the vendor doesn't know nothing about compatibility with any model.
I'm just checking to see if somebody knows something about them. The
information I have are as follows:

=== #1 ===

this is called "intelligent SCSI controller", can drive SCSI and
floppies, has a SCSI centronics connector on the back and 2 flat-cable
connectors (FDD + SCSI) on the top. On the top side it is printed
"DC-126B". Is sold for about $200

=== #2 ===

This is called "SCSI FDD+HDD controller model SUN 5231". It is quite
small, with a couple of VLSI chip, 1 ROM, and 6 TTL buffers. Connectors
are 2 for flat cable (34 and 50 pin) and the one on the back is a DB25.
The documentation says it implements SCSI2, and one of the ICs is marked
tmc950

==========

So, if anyone knows what they are (or can reccomend SCSI controllers
for which the drivers for 386bsd are available) I'd be very grateful.

	Thanks
