Bzzzt. Wrong answer.
As he says, there are no available slots for an ethernet card. Also,
not all computers are capable of taking a standard ISA network card.
[I've often thought of trying a PLIP connection to my Atari (with MiNT,
MiNTOS, and MiNT-Net), wonder if anyone's done it?]
You should be able to get about 115Kb/s out of parallel port I believe,
depends upon your definition of 'lame and low speed' I guess.
