I have a running system working very well and need to know more about how to set up and config the OS in case we need to replace fixed disks etc... I have a Digital Prioris LX5120 with an ADAPTEC AIC7850 (PCI) SCSI Adappter and am trying to install NetBSD 1.1on the Seagate 31200N Hard Drive. When the system boots and reports all of the hardware it finds the following appears about the PCI (SCSI) adapter: root device eisa not configured pci0 (root): configuration mode 2 pci0 bus 0 device 0: unknown vendor/product: 0x8086/0x04a3 (class: bridge, subclass: host, revision: 0x11) not configured pci0 bus 0 device 1: unknown vendor/product: 0x904/0x5078 (class: mass storage, subclass: SCSI, revision: 0x00) not configured pci0 bus 0 device 2: unknown vendor/product: 0x8086/0x0482 (class: prehistoric, subclass: miscellaneous, revision: 0x03) not configured This obviously has something to do with the fact that the install program cannot create a file system on the SCSI hard disk. The SCSI ID's are set up as follows: PCI Adapter: ID: 7 Toshiba CD-Rom ID 6 Seagate ST31200N (Hard Disk) ID: 0 From DOS the hard disk is accessable (fdisk/format works fine) Do the SCSI ID's need to be set up in a certain way?? Thanks in advance for help re this. can responses be CC'd to my E-mail address plse - andrew@whanganui.ac.nz
