And if *this* were a TL posting, I'd have to point out that the common
dialer shared library interface implementation in Solaris is broken by
design as it does not abstract the ppp/slip specifics to the extent that
should I wish to implement packet encapsulation on, say, a network
interface, by using the dialer library, I would not have access to
the level 1 IP protcol stack.
