It's also worth noting (if you're interested in such things ;) that AIUI there's a performance hit for using swapfiles as opposed to a dedicated swap partition as the swapping has to go through the filesystem code rather than a raw partition. In cases where you need more swap though and can't provide another swap partition then a swapfile is the solution.
