rerun the boot disk, go into the install and don't change your partitions
or slices.  don't choose any packages to install.  make sure you choose to
have the boot manager installed.  finish the installation.  It will give
you a few errors at the end about not being able to find the kernel. 
ignore them.  when it's done exit the install and reboot.  This might be
the wrong way to do it, but it worked for me.  Anyone that passes through
this thread feel free to criticize my method if it's wrong.  If this was to
terse for you, mail me and I'll write some more detailed instructions.
