I couldn't get the CD Rom recognised by the install prog so I installed from a Dos partition expecting to enable the atapi support once I was up and running. Now I've compiled a Kernel with the support enabled but it doesn't seem to be picking up my CD ROm... a Toshiba 8X IDE. I've started up with the - c option and cant see a CDROM device in the list of storage devices. Does this mean I've not compiled the kernel correctly or does the device not appear if it isn't recognised during the boot? If the latter is true is there a newer version of the atapi support that will allow me to see my cdrom? Any ideas? Regards IanG <IanG@tirnanog.demon.co.uk> "Laughing at ya!"
