Date: 1 Oct 1996 23:58:16 GMT Organization: University of Washington Lines: 25 Message-ID: <52sb6o$g9l@nntp1.u.washington.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: dirac.phys.washington.edu A professor here got several surplus HP 9000/300 workstations, plus disks, plus monitors, plus I'm not even sure all what. However, they came completely stripped of software, and he's trying to figure out what to do with them. Now, I've seen that NetBSD has a port to the HP's and suggested he/we try to put that on them, but I've no experience with the HP's at all, and don't even know if he has enough there to even begin loading NetBSD. In fact, I'm not even sure what models these things are -- two seem to be labeled as HP 9000/300 and two as HP 9000/345, plus there are disk boxes w/ I don't know what in them, and two graphics accelerators (?) HP 98730A's. Oh and a 16 track tape (?), and some other stuff too (a CD ROM?). We'd like to see if we can get NetBSD loaded on these, but as I said, I'm completely unfamiliar w/ the HP's, and I'm not even sure what all the parts we have are. Can anyone out there give me some pointers to figuring out what it is we have, and how we might be able to get these things off the ground w/ NetBSD? Or even, is there anybody in the University of Washington, Seattle area who might be able to give us a hand in getting started w/ these things? Thanks for any help or info, Bill Somsky ________________________________________________________________________ William R.
