Bizarre!  Do other operating systems run well on this hardware?  The
system appears to be made of more than reasonable parts, yet I've never
seen this happen on any of the FreeBSD machines I'm using (or help
others to administer) so *something* is clearly different, somewhere.

What sort of "job mix" do you run?  Anything special you using this
machine for?
