I had a similar problem when I first installed FreeBSD, which I finally solved by changing the cache settings in the CMOS. I changed it from `write back' to `write through.' System was rock-solid after that. I would certainly recommend checking the CMOS memory settings, changing them to very conservative values, and see if that changes anything. Overheating is always a potential problem, as well. - Tim Kientzle
