The ping program is in the /sbin directory - even with the most basic of installations. > I have added my ISP's proper NameServer IP address in the > /etc/resolv.conf file, in fact, my resolv.conf file looks something > pretty much like this: > > domain blah.net > nameserver w.x.y.z > > I suspect that my PPP connection is not finding the ISP name server. The nameserver stuff is a red herring if you've tried to connect using an IP number. What does "netstat -rn" tell you ? I suspect you're missing a default route: If you're using iijppp (the ppp executable), try adding a line: add 0 0 HISADDR to both /etc/ppp/ppp.conf and /etc/ppp/ppp.linkup. If this doesn't help, post the output to "netstat -rn" and the output to "traceroute <targetIP>" where <targetIP> is the number you're trying to reach. -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour....
