I have build X11R6 clients under NetBSD/pmax (a R6 server will not run due to
a lack of support in the kernel. A R5 server will). A few changes in the config
files are needed. Look at
ftp://lix.polytechnique.fr/pub/NetBSD/pmax/shared-libs/R6.diffs to get
some ideas. I think there is a precompiled X server in
ftp.unit.no:/pub/NetBSD/arc/pmax/X11R5
