We are trying to set up a new Pentium 166 over the net using the FTP
option. It's got 32 megs, an Adaptec 1542 SCSI controller, and we've
tried various 2 and 4 gig drives.

It appears to do the complete installation via FTP, but none of the
post-installation options do anything. If we reboot the system it
complains about there being no "/kernel". If I type in "kernel.GENERIC"
it begins booting, but then locks up just before the fdc0 check.

So we're wondering if there are any known problems with installing via
FTP? Should we try it from floppy instead, or does it sound like there
are other problems here?

Thanks,

Mark
