I know that my Adaptec 1542b translates the disk geometry for DOS to a maximum of 64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 1023 cylinders, so that I can not use my disk under DOS without modifikation of the Controller BIOS but I thought that it would be no problem to install a Unix on the disk. The `install' command crashed with a comment of `Wrong disk geometry' controller error, or something like that. Is it possible that the SCSI-driver I have on my dist.fs bootdisk works in translated mode so that he cannot access disks with more than 1GB? Where can I get either a newer dist.fs (SCSI-driver) or an image to burn a new Controller BIOS, or is there anything else I did wrong?
