It seems to be running relatively OK now, so I thought I'd post the fix. I went over and over the SCSI chains ; double checked the internal and external cables, double checked the terminator power and that all the termination was correct. Looks fine. Still crashing. Scratched my head and said. "Hmm...I wonder if there's a fundamental design flaw with the termination on this disk?" It's the sort of disk which has a single jumper to specify whether it's terminated or not (as opposed to a physical resistor.) Re-arranged the SCSI chain, putting the questionable disk in the middle and a disk with known-good termination on the end. Most of my problems have vanished. The moral of this story, boys and girls, is: Your drive's termination might not be correct. -- Sean T. Lamont, President / Chief NetNerd, Abstract Software, Inc.
