It seems as if I have a little problem. I have tried numerous times to
install via FTP and I fail when I try to initiate a PPP session to my
ISP. During boot I '-c' and enter the visual config screen to make sure
that base IO and IRQ settings are where they should be. Everything goes
great until I type "term" and then.... Poof!... nothing. No echo of
what I type nor is there any type of input going to the modem. Luckily
I have always had a CD to install from and Once I install the system PPP
works just fine, but now I wish to check out the latest SNAP and I am
unable to do so. The last time I could install via PPP->FTP was the 2.1
960606 SNAP (I just tested it and it still works! Unfortunately it just
did a newfs to my filesystem :-( ) I have searched the mail archives
and I cannot find anything helpful there. I really hope that this is
not something painfully obvious. The serial ports are on the
motherboard but the on board COM2 is disabled and the modem takes its
place but I really doubt that this is causing a conflict. I have posted
with this question before but never got an answer. Now that I am a
little more familiar with the OS I *really* want to know how come I
can't get this to work.
TIA
