Hmmm. I've only done two other things to my system, only one of which
involves X. Some versions of Netscape wanted to use /usr/X11/ ~~~
instead of /usr/X11R6/ ~~~ . I therefore put a symlink in /usr to point
X11/ to X11R6/ . The only other change I've made is in the shared libs.
To make qpop work (and some others) I had to symlink libc.so.3.0 to
point to libc.so.2.2 . But I doubt if this would affect Java.

That's all I've done to this system, and I'm still running 2.1R. If
yours still doesn't work, I'd be wondering what other changes you made
in your system. Also, exactly how is your CLASSPATH environment variable
defined? It has to include 'java_30' at the end.
