Keywords: 386BSD boot harddisk Sender: news@cs.few.eur.nl Organization: Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1992 16:30:33 GMT Lines: 30 I am trying to install 386BSD on my harddisk, but, although the TinyBSD floppy boots OK, the system hangs with both the harddisk and floppy disk lights on, when booting off the harddisk after running install. When I switch to a lower clock rate, (FAQ Aug 09), the system sometimes boots, and sometimes doesn't. When it does, it crashes right thereafter and reboots, leaving me too little time to read its last message. I have tried this with both the original dist.fs, and the patched ones from agate.berkeley, edu (unofficial/newbootables/cgd/dist.fs and unofficial/terry/new-bootables/dist.starlan.cmos.fs), with the same results. (I've got a Tulip 386SX 20MHz, with ISA bus, 4Mb RAM, 100Mb harddisk, and no special equipment, except for a mouse. I am installing 386BSD on my second harddisk partition (50Mb). The first one holds MSDOS (30Mb) and so does the third one (20Mb)) Does anybody hava a clue ?
