You're right, but IE probably allows you to click on "network properties" and puts you into the system dial-up network config stuff. There are lots of W95 scripting tools around (although I'm no expert). Use one of them so that you can see your login session - or avoid them altogether and use the "terminal before connect" bit of W95 to get your login script working.
