Well, i was about to commit most of the suggested patch from PR #1322,
but Bill Fenner has beaten me on this. :)  I've also moved the fix
into the 2.1.X branch, so either all future versions of 2.2-current
as 2.1.6 will come with a fixed savecore.  (While i was there, i've
also made savecore creating the vmcore file with mode 0600.)
