Heh, this actually has *nothing* to do with Walnut Creek CDROM's policy and, if they had their way, 2.2 would be released this very month. They originally wanted to have 3-4 CD releases a year out of us but the project proved far too conservative for that, so they've grudgingly settled for twice a year. If we released 2.2 in December it'd serious make WC's Christmas, but it's simply not goingto be ready in time (with the level of polish we or our users are expecting) and so we (the project) have pushed it into Q1 of 1997. It's late, we know it's late, but better late than a sub-standard replacement for 2.1.x, which is what 2.2 is supposed to be. In the meantime, I'll keep releasing 2.2-SNAPs for those who need the latest bits in fully installable form. -- - Jordan Hubbard President, FreeBSD Project
