Was this disk formatted under a different version, say 2.0x?
We upgraded some 2.01 systems to 2.1. The 9GB hard drives attached
to them now spout media errors at random times. BSDI support
said that they changed some things in the large disk support, and to
correct it, the drive needs to be re-formatted (controller level) then
re-partitioned and re-newfsed.
