Any suggestions, as I would like to keep freebsd, but i > dont like having to install from dos partition, and want the > availability of my cdrom drive. > > mailto:icewolf@dimensional.com > The CD is ISO9660 + RockRidge extensions. It should just work fine in any drive. AFAIK the RockRidge stuff is all done in software and is essentially a hack to use normal filenames in the stupid ISO 8.3 format. mcd0 refers to a CDROM on a Mitsumi(?) proprietary interface. Nothing at all to do with ATAPI. The 'timeout getting status' generally means you don't have a Mitsumi i/f in your system. How is your CDROM connected? ie, which controller, master or slave, what else is on the same controller?
